Trying To Get In DMOZ? More Evidence Of DMOZ Corruption
My website is 2 years old, I have a great amount of steady organic traffic. When I started this website, I signed up for the Yahoo Directory and DMOZ.
For those who don’t know, it is a great kick start to get listed in these 2 directories especially if you want to rank in Google (they actually recommend it).
I was accepted into the Yahoo Directory after paying $299.00. That’s right folks, that would be “Two Hundred and Ninety Nine Dollars”. Obviously I got in that one!
Then I submitted my website to the DMOZ, which is free. It is a printing website with plenty of content selling all kinds of printed products in the US. It’s a search engine friendly site that’s all white hat with no gimmicks. It has good quality content, no pop-ups or anything else that would annoy a DMOZ Editor. In two years time, I have built up enough business to open a storefront in Lakeland Florida. I’ve never had a chargeback or a unhappy customer.
Last week, I was looking at my stats and noticed that a DMOZ Editor viewed my website. Here is a screen shot from Google Analytics:
I “assumed” that I was finally in. I’m not! There could only be one answer, they have a corrupt editor that probably gets kickbacks from other printing companies or perhaps they have a similar website?
I understand that the DMOZ editors are volunteers, so it’s impossible to police them. I’ve read many articles about DMOZ Corruption and I’ve been suspecting it for a while. What other explanation could they have?
I know they don’t have the value they used to, but they are still a Pagerank 8 and they’re not using nofollows. What gives?
I’m hoping someone from DMOZ will read this and look into the matter for me. Does anyone else feel they were cheated out of a DMOZ listing?
