Date: November 11, 2009

Contact: Dani Lunsford, Internet Director

Napleton Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge of Kissimmee

(866) 934-0579

Orlando Auto Dealership Ventures into Social Media

Kissimmee, FL…When Napleton Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge of Kissimmee wanted to stimulate its car sales in today’s down economy, they decided to try something new. Instead of buying more newspaper, magazine and TV ads as they’d done in the past, they opted to try their hand at social media. It was a venture into new promotional territory at a time when budgets were tight and sales were down.

With assistance from Showroom Logic, an Orlando-based social media company, the dealership began building a social networking campaign. It created a presence on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube that automatically displayed the dealer’s entire inventory. It also offered instant updates as new cars came in, complete with detailed information, pricing and 25-30 photos of each vehicle.

“It was a way to hit a different demographic than we were reaching with traditional media,” explained Dani Lunsford, Internet Director for Napleton. “Because the cost to develop our presence on social media was minimal, it meant we could explore that option without taking any resources from our other marketing efforts. That made it an easy decision.”

In addition to the automatic inventory postings, Lunsford puts updates on Facebook and Twitter several times a day, talking about new cars that have come in, promotional contests, pricing specials, the dealership’s lifetime warranties, even listing its employment opportunities. She also has a car blog on which she posts automotive-related stories.

According to Lunsford, “The results have been incredible! Even though we launched the social networking campaign less than a few months ago, we can already see a positive effect. We have a good following, and that audience is constantly growing. On Twitter alone we get about five new followers per hour, yes PER HOUR!”

Lunsford said the dealership has seen a significant increase in traffic to its website and in the number of inquiries that come in by e-mail and phone. Also, she noted that the people who are following Napleton on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube appear to be qualified leads. “These are not just tire kickers. Most plan to buy a vehicle within the next 90 days,” she said.

Another benefit that the dealership has realized from its social networking is a surge in out-of-state buyers. Whereas with traditional media like newspaper and TV, Napleton’s ads only reached people in the Central Florida area. Now the dealership finds itself fielding inquiries from all over the country.

“Buyers see something they like in our online inventory and are willing to cross state lines to make the purchase,” explained Lunsford. “Our social media marketing is transforming us from a local car dealer into a digital dealership with a much larger potential customer base.”

According to Mike Annable of Showroom Logic, activity on sites like Twitter, Facebook and YouTube does translate into sales. “Social media works for automobile dealerships just as it does for other businesses,” he said. “It builds the brand. It increases the company’s visibility and strengthens its online presence. It puts the dealer’s products right in front of people who perhaps wouldn’t otherwise see them and yet are genuinely interested. And here’s the best part – it’s practically free. What other advertising medium can make that claim? Talk about getting more bang for your marketing dollar!” We pride ourselves in being the largest dealer for Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles in Kissimmee, FL.

Ever Wonder Why Lemonfree.com Shows Up In Searches?

It doesn’t matter if you’re a car dealer or a third party advertising company for used cars, the odds of getting somebody to naturally link to your site is pretty slim.

Many car dealers are so focused on keywords and meta tags they forget one of the most important aspects in search engine optimization which is backlinks.

If you don’t have links from other websites (especially links from related content sites) pointing to your website you simply will not show up in many search engine queries.

Many companies are forced to purchase links from relevant websites in order to help their rankings. If you read Google’s Webmaster Guidelines you will see that Google makes it clear that:

…… some SEOs and webmasters engage in the practice of buying and selling links that pass PageRank, disregarding the quality of the links, the sources, and the long-term impact it will have on their sites. Buying or selling links that pass PageRank is in violation of Google’s webmaster guidelines and can negatively impact a site’s ranking in search results.

We have a network of auto related websites, and we do not buy or sell links. If we did and Google caught us, we would be penalized and never show up in their search engines, which can be the kiss of death for any website, since Google accounts for about 80% of internet traffic.

Tonight I was checking one of my blog comments waiting for my approval. This is what I got:

Submitted on 2009/11/10 at 12:56pm

Hello,

My name is Jamie Vanderhorst from lemonfree.com.

We are currently looking for advertising opportunities with qualified partners.

I came across your site blog.used-cars-fl.com and found your information and website very useful. I would like to buy a link: “corvette for sale” off your page http://blog.used-cars-fl.com/ – the link would point to (I deleted the link, but it was pointing to their website with the anchor text “Corvettes”.

In return, I’d send you $19.00 via PayPal for the link.

Let me know what you think of this deal.

Best,
Jamie Vanderhorst
Marketing Representative
lemonfree.com

Patrick Bennett and I have worked hard getting this site to rank and get some quality traffic. What really burns me is that they think they can buy us for a mere $18.00?

There is nothing a despise more than black hat SEO, which is what this is. As my duty, I am forced to report them to Google via Google Webmaster Tools.

In case there are other out there frustrated by Black Hat SEO Tactics, Matt Cutts from Google tells you what to do here.

I’m going to show you how it’s done:

This post will show you how to swiftly & effectively find quality followers and easily unfollow anyone who doesn’t follow you back.

Don’t waste your time joining those websites that gain access to your account and follow thousands of spammers. In the Twitter world, you are who you follow.

I’m going to show you how it’s done:

1) Download Firefox:

If you aren’t already using Firefox now is the time to get it. Don’t worry, you will still be able to use Internet Explorer as often as you’d like. The tools I use are Firefox addons, and they are all free. This will not cost you one dime. Download Firefox here.

2) Download Grease Monkey:

Go to the Grease Monkey add-on for Firefox. This will be your best friend forever, and will open your eyes to a vast amount of opportunities.

After Successful Install, this is where your Grease Monkey Will Be

When your Grease Monkey is installed, it will show up on the bottom right of your browser. The little Monkey should be bright. If it’s not, just click him to wake him up.

3) Find The Right Grease Monkey Scripts:

This website has thousands of Grease Monkey Scripts that can help you do just about anything possible. You can find scripts to help you on Facebook, you can even find bots to play your online games for you automatically (I used to do that with Mafia Wars – Who wants to sit there and attack people all day. Just have a bot do it).

I use 2 different scripts for Twitter:

Identify anyone who you follow, but doesn’t follow you back. I will assume that you’re already using Twitter and you are following a bunch of people. Before you even try to get more followers you want to weed out the unfollowers. Download this script.

After you successfully install it, you can now start using it. Go to your Twitter account. Now click “following” (the people you are following).

This Tool Makes It Easier To Identify & Unfollow People

Twitter will show you pages of 20, so you have to keep going to the next page and repeating.

2) Find More Followers Quicker: If you were to sit there and click “follow” to a big list of people it tends to get a bit boring. This tool takes the cake. Go ahead and download that. Now find some quality Twitter accounts. If you’re looking for a good local following see who follows your local newspaper. Go to the newspaper Twitter page that shows there followers. This is what you will see:

One Click & This Tool Will Follow Everyone On That List

That’s it! You now have the tools needed to excel at Twitter. The best way to do it is simple. Tonight, follow about 300 people. Wait a few days, then clean you your list (whoever didn’t follow you in the 3 days gets’ the boot). Now go back and follow more. Do this twice a week and you will eventually have a great Twitter following.

If your scripts aren’t working, right click over your monkey and be sure they are enabled. If you need help, please leave a comment below.

Showroom Logic, based out of Central Florida just added another weapon to it’s arsenal. Automated Google Adsense that is specific to each vehicle the dealer has. Normally you see software like this come out of California.

Recently, Showroom Logic announced some unique tools like their automated Twitter Tweets for car dealers and Facebook Updates. Now this tool really takes the cake.

Showroom Logic Twitter API In Action

Co-Founder Patrick Bennett thought of the Google Adwords concept and put it to action after many hours of coding and testing. Showroom Logic used the inventory of Park Automall in Tampa Florida to test it.

What it does:

Every dealer has tried Google Adsense before, and some still use it. The problem is they all fight over the same keywords. Think of Google Adsense as an auction to advertise. Whomever pays Google the most per click will get the number 1 slot. A typical dealer will focus on a string of keywords. Here is some keywords another Tampa Dealer uses (they are a Ford Dealership)

Ford Tampa

Ford Tarpon Springs

Ford Dealer Tampa Florida

Tampa Bay Ford Dealers

Ford Dealership Tampa Florida

That’s it, that is their entire campaign. Showroom Logic’s automated campaign creates a list so large I couldn’t even put it here. Park Automall has about 200 used cars, so when Showroom Logic’s software crawls their inventory it created 2,314 different keyword phrases (an average of 11.5 different keyword phrases per vehicle). When a new vehicle gets added it creates a new adsense campaign. When a vehicle is sold it removes that specific campaign.

The results are astounding. In the Tampa Bay area alone they had 66,455 ads displayed in the Tampa Bay area alone (just yesterday). Not only did the ads appear on Google Searches, they appeared on 65,143 content related websites like newspaper websites and car related blogs.

Click The Screen Shot For More Details

The great thing is the fact that the ads only show when an article mentions a specific car or truck that the dealer actually has in their inventory. If the news article was about a “2005 Honda Accord” the ad would show up. When the user clicks the ad it goes directly to the car!

Most dealers that spend the time setting up a Google Adwords Campaign will have each link pointing to their main website. Users don’t like that. If they click a link they want to see the description they clicked show up.

Wouldn’t you rather pay .50 cents for a quality click than 2 or 3 dollars like everyone else? The keywords Showroom Logic bids on are exclusive, some only cost .10 cents because nobody else bids on it.

Showroom Logic’s Google Adsense tool is only available for one dealer per area. Co Founder of Showroom Logic Mike Annable says “It would be a huge conflict of interest for us to service 2 different dealerships a few miles apart. If we did that, we’d have to favor one and I wouldn’t want to be put in that position”.
