One of the hardest things to achieve in car dealer SEO is proper backlinks. Proper, meaning links from website with the same content. A true backlink will be a nice clean link without the dreaded “nofollow” tag or a java script link.

A nofollow tag tells the search engines not to pass any relevancy (or link juice) to the site it’s linking to. Many car dealers think that links from Cars.com, Yahoo Autos and Autotrader count as backlinks. Well, they don’t.

The problem is there aren’t many automotive related sources to obtain backlinks from. Showroom Logic has just finished it’s set-up of a live directory consisting of a dealers actual inventory.

Each dealer will get their own hub page with a direct keyword rich link to the website of a dealers choice. Showroom Logic will link to a dealers main website or microsite.

As an added bonus, each dealer will receive an image backlink from each and every vehicle they have in inventory. This will ultimately move the dealers website up in all three of the big search engines.

Participating car dealers are encouraged to send us their inventory feeds for the full benefit. Why pay the Yahoo Directory or Business.com $300.00 a year when you can get all of these features in a live automotive directory for the same price?

Showroom Logic’s Automotive Directory will not only give a dealer’s website more SEP Power, it will actually catch and send leads directly to the dealer.

We are happy to not only work with dealers, but SEO Companies as well. Visit out automotive directory page for more details.

All new signups will get a blog update written about their location, etc with another direct link to the website of their choice. Savvy dealers and marketers will also get a log-in to create 1 blog post every month for each signup to promote current events. The length of the post is up to you, but you can only have 2 external links on the post.

Any car dealer using our directory will also get use of our Craigslist Posting tool, Twitter and Facebook Tools. For more information, email mike@showroomlogic.com or call 863-666-0130.

This week the speakers were announced for this year’s SMX West Conference in Santa Clara California. Patrick Bennett, co-founder of Showroom Logic has been invited to speak again (he spoke at last year’s event).

If you are an internet sales manager or director for a car dealership I highly advise you to attend this. Basically the who’s who of the SEO industry will be there, and you can learn a lot about new strategies.

If you want to sell more cars online this year you need to grab the bull by the horns and take matters into your own hands. There are many things you could be doing on a daily basis to fish out your own prospects from the internet.

If you don’t have the time or budget to attend, everyone who speaks at the SMX events will surely have a blog. If you simply subscribe to their blogs and read every new article posted you will be a self taught pro in no time at all.

This is where Showroom Logic gets information, and if we can get a 40% traffic increase for car dealers don’t you think maybe you could pick up some information?

You can learn all about the conference here.It is a 3 days event from March 2nd to March 4th, 2010.

The 2 speakers I am excited about listening to is Matt Cutts from Google and Vanessa Fox (formerly of Google).

Yesterday I wrote about how fast Yahoo indexed a website that we added a bunch of content to from California.

Overnight, we launched a brand new website, with a brand new domain name in Platteville Wisconsin. We use subdomains in each city, all hooked together with a main domain name, which is www.usedcarswisconsin101.com.

About 2 hours ago I wrote a blog post on our Showroom Logic blog, with a link pointing to the new website. That particular site isn’t that juicy, holding on a modest pagerank of 2.

We do have a ton of backlinks pointing to that site, but most are nofollow and backlinks from our Car Dealer Twitter Tool. Anyway, within one hour the website was indexed in Google:

Brand New Website, Brand New Domain Indexed In 1 Hour On Google

We’ve launched many websites, but never encountered being indexed by Google so fast. It’s obvious that our Showroom Logic Blog has some decent authority from Google because of our frequent blog posts with unique content.

We never paid much attention to Yahoo. We were always all about Google, and we still are. Recently I noticed a huge change in Yahoo, and we are getting more traffic from Yahoo than ever before.

Last year we launched a California Used Car Website. We basically launched a main website with one sub-domain and had the inventory of 1 car dealer on there. About 2 weeks ago we picked up a surge of car dealers, and launched 6 new sub-domains. Today we have 1,146 total used cars listed on that website.

From our experience with our Florida and Utah websites, Google has always been the one to crawl and index any new sub-domain we launched.

Today, I was looking at our Live Stats from The Blvd and I couldn’t help to notice it was all Yahoo. We all know Yahoo was always dependent on keyword tags and meta descriptions, and we don’t use them on our websites.

For this reason we never received much traffic from Yahoo, until recently. Even on our other websites the surge of Yahoo traffic has been significant.

I’m wondering why Yahoo would make such a change when they’re merging with Bing this year?

Ever Wonder Why Lemonfree.com Shows Up In Searches?

It doesn’t matter if you’re a car dealer or a third party advertising company for used cars, the odds of getting somebody to naturally link to your site is pretty slim.

Many car dealers are so focused on keywords and meta tags they forget one of the most important aspects in search engine optimization which is backlinks.

If you don’t have links from other websites (especially links from related content sites) pointing to your website you simply will not show up in many search engine queries.

Many companies are forced to purchase links from relevant websites in order to help their rankings. If you read Google’s Webmaster Guidelines you will see that Google makes it clear that:

…… some SEOs and webmasters engage in the practice of buying and selling links that pass PageRank, disregarding the quality of the links, the sources, and the long-term impact it will have on their sites. Buying or selling links that pass PageRank is in violation of Google’s webmaster guidelines and can negatively impact a site’s ranking in search results.

We have a network of auto related websites, and we do not buy or sell links. If we did and Google caught us, we would be penalized and never show up in their search engines, which can be the kiss of death for any website, since Google accounts for about 80% of internet traffic.

Tonight I was checking one of my blog comments waiting for my approval. This is what I got:

Submitted on 2009/11/10 at 12:56pm

Hello,

My name is Jamie Vanderhorst from lemonfree.com.

We are currently looking for advertising opportunities with qualified partners.

I came across your site blog.used-cars-fl.com and found your information and website very useful. I would like to buy a link: “corvette for sale” off your page http://blog.used-cars-fl.com/ – the link would point to (I deleted the link, but it was pointing to their website with the anchor text “Corvettes”.

In return, I’d send you $19.00 via PayPal for the link.

Let me know what you think of this deal.

Best,
Jamie Vanderhorst
Marketing Representative
lemonfree.com

Patrick Bennett and I have worked hard getting this site to rank and get some quality traffic. What really burns me is that they think they can buy us for a mere $18.00?

There is nothing a despise more than black hat SEO, which is what this is. As my duty, I am forced to report them to Google via Google Webmaster Tools.

In case there are other out there frustrated by Black Hat SEO Tactics, Matt Cutts from Google tells you what to do here.
